Colour Palette

The short animation that I just completed called Project Breakup, had to have a very specific colour palette. The story was being told through the animation, music and voice overs, but also the background. It had to reflect the emotions that the voice over actors were speaking about. So I selected a number of palettes that I thought would do this and began to set up each colour scheme in Flash because I wanted certain assets in the background to change from one colour to another and had to set up each assets fill and line as a symbol and animate a tint tween with the colours from each palette.

Here are the some stills of the background from a project that I worked on called Project Breakup. The background rotates during the short animation with several colour changes. The background changes colour so as to reflect the mood of the story. So things are normal at the start, then the two characters fall in love, they breakup and heal after the breakup. So I selected colour palettes that would reflect this. I built everything in Flash and animated in Flash. But then exported everything on separate layers into After Effects, added a drop shadow and spotlight, just to create a level of dept.
